Recently I looked in the mirror while I was doing my eye make-up and I got scared out of my mind! I saw a bright red line above my pupil in the white part. I didn’t know if the next sign was going to be blindness or what! So, naturally I didn’t put my contacts in that day, I wore my glasses. The next day the line had spread and almost the entire top of my eye was red! It wasn’t quite as red as the first day as it was spreading out. So, I looked up on the internet to find out what was wrong with my eye, if it was something that I needed to go to the doctor for or what. So, luckily, it was nothing serious. This is what I found : The conjunctiva can’t absorb the blood quickly, so the blood is trapped under this transparent surface. A subconjunctival hemorrhage may look frightening and painful to you, but it’s usually a harmless condition that disappears within 10 to 14 days.
Subconjunctival hemorrhage often occurs without any injury to your eye, or it may be the result of a strong sneeze or cough that caused a broken blood vessel. You don’t need any specific treatment for a subconjunctival hemorrhage.
